TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

The Information Technologies and Telecommunications Department (ITT) provides R+D+I in the complementary areas of IT and Telecom for a broad range of applications including Wireless Sensors Networks in industrial, residential, agricultural and metropolitan sectors, Mobile Technologies for tracking and locating, Intelligent Systems for industrial development, and e-Learning Platforms for industry and elderly people.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES AND TELECOMMUNICATION

Information Technologies

IT and artificial intelligence: Information technologies and artificial intelligence for industrial development, applying Multi-Agent Systems, intelligent agents and intelligent technologies such as Expert Systems (Rule Based, Case Based Reasoning), Neural Networks, Fuzzy Systems, Bayesian Networks and others. Web applications and open source: In client application developments, most are based on cutting-edge web application technologies (JSP, AJAX, etc.) and open source, although local applications are also developed.

E-learning technologies

ITT has extensive expertise in projects using well-known standard open source platforms (e.g. Moodle) and user-tailored platforms for industry and elderly people.

Telecommunication Technologies

Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks based on Wi-Fi / IEEE 802.11, Zigbee / IEEE 802.15.4 and other wireless technologies, with in-house capabilities in digital, analogue and RF electronics, essential for the development of low-cost and low-power sensor units. Experience includes designing and developing sensor networks for residential, industrial, agricultural, and metropolitan environments, as well as in body sensors.

Mobile telephony

Mobile telephony such as GSM/GPRS/3G, and GNSS/GPS location technology. These technologies permit wireless measurements, intelligent remote managing systems, and GPS-guided systems for disabled or elderly people.

Embedded Systems

Mobile telephony such as GSM/GPRS/3G, and GNSS/GPS location technology. These technologies permit wireless measurements, intelligent remote managing systems, and GPS-guided systems for disabled or elderly people.

ITT is also skilled in the development of embedded systems, based on microcontrollers and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) covering a wide range of applications including low-power mobile devices.
